Honda cuts Prologue EV prices by $7,500 while it’s still available

Honda’s electric SUV was once among the most popular EVs in the US. While it’s still on sale (for now), Honda is making the Prologue a bit more attractive with a $7,500 price cut.

After launching the Prologue two years ago, Honda’s electric SUV quickly became one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the US.

In the second half of 2024, it ranked third behind just the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. The Honda Prologue remained among the most popular EVs last year, ranking fifth, just behind the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

After the $7,500 federal tax credit expired at the end of September, Honda has struggled to sell EVs. Through the first three months of 2026, Prologue sales are down 65% to 3,319 units.

In comparison, Hyundai has already sold nearly 9,800 IONIQ 5s this year, or almost three times as many as Honda.

It appears Honda wants to win buyers back after cutting prices on the 2026 Prologue by $7,500 across the board.

The cheapest 2026 Honda Prologue EX FWD now starts at $39,900, down from $47,400 for the 2025 model year.

Honda’s electric SUV is underpinned by GM’s Ultium platform, the same one that powers Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac EVs, offering an EPA driving range of up to 308 miles, using an 85 kWh battery. All-wheel-drive (AWD) variants get up to 294 miles.

Using DC fast charging, the Prologue can add about 65 miles of range in 10 minutes. To recharge the battery from 20% to 80%, it takes around 35 minutes. Prologue drivers can now access Tesla Superchargers with Honda’s NACS-CSS adapter.

Inside, the electric SUV features an 11″ driver cluster and 11.3″ central touchscreen with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Touring and Elite trims gain a Premium Bose Audio System and Panoramic Moonroof, starting at $44,200 and $50,400, respectively.

While Honda is discounting the Prologue, it has scrapped plans to launch three new EVs in the US this year. The Honda 0 Series SUV and Saloon were expected to go into production at Honda’s Ohio EV hub later this year, alongside the Acura RSX, but Honda canceled those plans last month, citing several factors, “including the easing of fossil fuel regulations and revisions to EV incentives” by the Trump administration.

A Honda spokesperson told Motor1 last month that “the Prologue remains in our lineup,” but for how long, remains unclear.

To sweeten the deal, Honda is offering an $8,000 lease credit on 2026 Prologue models, plus a $2,000 loyalty or conquest bonus.
