The luxury electric sedan is more affordable than expected. Lexus launched the 2026 ES EV with over 300 miles of range and prices starting under $50,000.

The 2026 Lexus ES received a complete redesign inside and out, including a new fully electric version. It’s the first core Lexus model transformed into a “multi-platform” vehicle with EV and hybrid powertrains.
For its eighth generation, the luxury sedan is an improvement over the outgoing ES in just about every way, from the inside out.
The new design is based on the LF-ZC show car, which first debuted at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, featuring a redesigned “spindle body,” the latest evolution of its signature grille.
On the inside, the new 2026 ES is equipped with the latest version of the Lexus Interface Multimedia system. The system is significantly faster and easier to use than its current interface, featuring a new 14″ central navigation screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 12.3″ driver display.

The 2026 Lexus ES EV is available in two grades: the ES 350e, a front-wheel-drive (FWD) model, and the ES 500e, an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, with Premium and Luxury trim options.
That’s for the all-electric 2026 Lexus ES 350e Premium, the only EV or hybrid variant that starts under $50,000. The AWD ES 500e Premium is priced from $51,795, while the 350e Luxury and 500e Luxury start at $57,195 and $60,195, respectively.

For the hybrid version, the lowest-priced ES 350h Premium starts at $50,995, the ES 350h Premium AWD starts at $55,795, and the ES 350h Premium+ AWD starts at $57,195.
The electric 2026 Lexus ES 350e with 19″ wheels has an EPA-estimated driving range of 307 miles. With the available 21″ wheels, it can drive up to 292 miles. The AWD ES 500e has an EPA-estimated driving range of 276 miles with 19″ wheels and 272 miles with 21″ wheels.

This Lexus playing a bit of a joke. Introduce an all-new EV version of a sports sedan that has the acceleration slower than a Prius (7.7 vs 7.2) and range less than a Leaf and charging speed slower than an equinox but priced twice as high as any of them. Then say, gee whiz... no one likes to buy EVs.
Like Toyota’s newest electric SUVs, the new ES has a built-in NACS port for recharging at Tesla Superchargers. According to Lexus, the electric sedan can charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes under “ideal conditions.”
The new 2026 Lexus ES EV is now on sale, starting at $48,795, while the hybrid is expected to arrive in June 2026. It joins the upgraded RZ and three new Toyota electric SUVs now on sale in the US this year.
Priced under $50,000, the electric 2026 Lexus ES undercuts rivals like the BMW i4 and Audi A6 e-tron, which start at about $58,000 and $65,900, respectively. The Tesla Model 3 still has it beat, starting from just $36,900.
