The new Denza Z9 GT, or the world’s longest-range pure EV, as BYD claims, is headed to Europe, offering 5-minute fast charging and a WLTP range of nearly 500 miles.
BYD puts Europe on watch with the new Denza Z9 GT EV
BYD’s luxury sub-brand Denza revealed the new Z9 GT last week, deeming it “the world’s longest pure electric driving range vehicle.”
Thanks to BYD’s new Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, the all-electric shooting brake can drive up to 1,036 km (644 miles) under CTLC conditions, and it can even recharge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes.
Measuring 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,480 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, the Denza Z9 GT is about the size of the Porsche Panamera or Taycan.
The new Denza Z9 GT is available in China in both single-motor and tri-motor configurations. The single-motor variant features a rear-mounted electric motor with 370 kW (496 hp), while the tri-motor model delivers a combined 850 kW (1,140 hp).

In just a few weeks, BYD’s luxury EV will go on sale in Europe. BYD announced plans to launch the Denza Z9 GT on April 8, 2026, bringing its 5-minute Flash Charging system with it.
Powered by its 122 kWh Blade Battery, the Denza Z9 GT will offer up to 800 km (497 miles) of WLTP range in the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant. The triple-motor version packs over 960 PS, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h time of less than 3 seconds.

Inside, the luxury EV will be the first European vehicle to offer an “opera-house entertainment experience,” according to BYD, with a bespoke speaker system and Dolby Atmos immersive audio tech.

Every time I read an article like this it only confirms just how much Chinese companies have everyone beaten with their EV technology. It almost feels like their progress is accelerating exponentially while other car companies sit around and look. If this keeps up not many will be able to compete and the future will look drastically different once a lot of companies that didn't keep up go under.
“The introduction of the DENZA Z9GT in Europe marks a very important milestone for our brand. The Z9GT represents the true spirit of DENZA — where advanced technology, beautiful design and emotional driving come together,” BYD’s executive vice president Stella Li said.

Li added that the luxury EV is “the perfect choice to introduce the principle of ‘Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3’ to the world, as we start our global rollout of FLASH Charging in Europe.”
With up to 1,500 kW of charging power, BYD’s Flash Charging stations can charge the vehicle’s battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. Even at -30°C, it takes only 3 minutes longer, replenishing the battery from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes.
BYD has already installed thousands of Flash Charging stations across China and will begin rolling them out globally this year, starting with an initial wave in Europe. The company will reveal further details on the rollout soon.
