The GV90, the most lavish Genesis SUV to date, is almost here. With its global debut coming up, the GV90 was seen sporting a new royal green-like color for the first time.
Genesis GV90 goes royal green ahead of its debut
Genesis is expected to unveil the GV90, its first full-size electric SUV, by the end of 2026. We got our first look at it at the New York Auto Show last year with the Neolun Concept, a preview of the upcoming SUV.
“It’s the epitome of timeless design and sophisticated craftsmanship,” according to Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke.
Although the concept featured a minimalist, reductive design, it was loaded with premium features like coach doors, swivel seats, and an immersive audio system.
While many believed Genesis would cut some of the ultra-luxe extras, as many do with concepts that go into production, recent sightings have proven otherwise.
Earlier this month, a production GV90 model was spotted with B-pillarless coach doors for the first time (see the video here). As the GV90 nears its world premiere, new details continue to surface.
Most recently, another production GV90 test vehicle was caught with a new green color by Korean auto blogger MotorsJason. Although it’s still covered, you can see what appears to be a royal green-like color, similar to the “Ionosphere Green” premium color option for the Hyundai IONIQ 9.
The GV80 is offered in Storr Green and a Matte option, but the GV90’s color appears more premium, with an emerald finish.
Genesis will reveal more details, including prices and specs, closer to launch, but recent local reports estimate the GV90’s price tag could run up to around 300 million won, or about $207,000.
Given that, it’s likely for a higher-priced trim with coach doors. Genesis is expected to launch a standard GV90 model, starting at around 150,000 won ($100,000).
The GV90 is also rumored to be the first vehicle underpinned by Hyundai’s new eM platform, which the company has said will deliver a 50% range improvement over current E-GMP-based EVs.
According to TheKoreanCarBlog, the Genesis GV90 is expected to be powered by a 113-kWh battery pack, delivering approximately 300-400 miles of range.
