Mercedes is offering a secret G-Wagen rebate worth up to $10,000

Discounts on a brand-new Mercedes G-Wagen are hard to come by, but if your in the market for an electric G-Wagen you’ll want to pay attention: Mercedes is offering a hidden rebate deal on 2026 Mercedes G 580 with EQ Technology SUV that’s worth thousands.

The ponderously-named Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology SUV is NOT ponderous once you push the right pedal down. The boxy, all-electric off-roader packs 576 hp worth of electric motors capable of launching it from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. That’s nearly as quick as the twin-turbocharged, V8 ICE-powered G63 AMG SUV, and even quicker off the line and down the eighth mile, surely.

Despite the comparable performance and objectively superior noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), the electric G has failed to find a foothold in the ultra-high performance SUV market. And, with a relatively low 239 mile EPA-rated range (despite its large, 116 kWh battery and $163,200 starting price), it’s hardly on the radar for EV and tech enthusiasts, either.

It’s no wonder, then, that MBUSA is eager to to help Mercedes dealers move them off the lots. So, to make some noise for their quiet, EQ-powered rides, CarsDirect is reporting that Mercedes has rolled out up to $10,000 in hidden rebates for the big G 580 with EQ Technology SUV throughout the month of January.

What’s a hidden rebate?

Great question! Unlike other brands’ discounts, Mercedes doesn’t want to be seen discounting its vehicles. So, instead of advertising bonus cash or special lease deals, MBUSA offers dealers a cash incentive that allows them to show buyers a discount that isn’t really there. And, while a similar $9,500 deal was previously available to dealers, that was limited to leases only.

This new deal doesn’t seem to have such limitations, so if you’re out to buy one of these for you or your business, remember: the negotiation starts at $10K off.
