Lucid launches its 2026 Air EV lineup: more range, quieter, and a little more expensive

Lucid’s newly announced 2026 Air lineup doesn’t reinvent the brand’s flagship sedan, but it does hone the formula with a more efficient Touring trim, added cabin comfort, and a few long‑requested equipment changes.

Below is a concise overview of what’s new for 2026 and how each trim now compares to its 2025 predecessor.

Lucid’s lineup is improving and trying to maintain its lead in efficiency.

What’s New for 2026 – At a Glance

  • Touring gets a real‑world range boost. Denser battery cells push the Touring’s EPA estimate from 406 miles to 431 miles on 19‑inch wheels (+6 %, or +25 miles).
  • Quieter, cooler cabin for every Air. A higher‑capacity AC compressor—lifted from the Gravity SUV—improves cooling and shaves cabin noise across all trims.
  • Mobile Charging Cable now standard. Lucid makes the 40‑amp travel charger part of the base kit. Owners of 2025 cars often had to buy it with an accessory credit.
  • Fresh wheel option. A five‑triple‑spoke 19‑inch “Aeronaut” wheel (Platinum or Stealth finish) joins the catalogue for Pure, Touring and Grand Touring.
  • More pampering in Grand Touring. Twenty‑way massaging, heated, ventilated front seats migrate from the options list to the standard spec.
  • DreamDrive Pro grows up. A forthcoming OTA update brings Hands‑Free Drive Assist and automatic lane changes to Air models equipped with DreamDrive Pro.
  • Universal Supercharger access. From 31 July 2025, every Air—regardless of model year—can use Tesla V3+ Superchargers via Lucid’s $220 DC‑NACS‑to‑CCS1 adapter.

Key Take‑Aways by Trim

Pure

  • Still the efficiency champ at ~5 mi/kWh, but gains are limited to NVH improvements and the standard charger.
  • Price creep of $1 k nudges the entry point to $70.9 k.

Touring

  • Biggest winner: 431‑mile rating eclipses Tesla’s Model S Long Range by roughly 25 miles while undercutting it on price.
  • Same 620 hp powertrain; charging peak remains 250 kW.
  • $1 k price bump is modest given the additional range and standard equipment.

Current Lucid Air owner, best car I've ever driven, had Model 3 and Model Y, and currently still own a 2023 Model X, the ride quality of Tesla is just not on the same level.

But I must say I am a little disappointed with the 2026 updates - the $1000 price increase came with a downgrade - the rear screen and storage is removed and only comes with the $2000 add-on. Still no NACS port, and V3 Tesla supercharge can only charge up to 50KW which is very slow on today's standard.

Love that it is getting better AC and love the new 19' wheels.

Grand Touring

  • Range stays at 512 miles, but the cabin now ships fully loaded (massage seats, DreamDrive Premium, Aeronaut wheel option).
  • The steepest price increase (+$4 k) partly reflects those formerly optional seats.

Charging & Ownership Experience

  • At‑home convenience: Bundling the Mobile Charging Cable eliminates a $650 out‑of‑pocket accessory many 2025 buyers begrudged.
  • Cabin refinement: Early test drives of Gravity prototypes showed the new compressor to be both quieter and quicker to pull the cabin down to temperature; Air owners should expect a similar improvement.

Electrek’s Take

The 2026 Lucid Air demonstrates that the company can quickly apply some of what it learned from the Gravity development to its existing vehicle program.

Buyers eyeing the Touring get the most tangible benefit—a 25‑mile range jump for roughly the same money. This is by far the best deal now.

For the rest of the lineup, you get a price bump, but a slightly more refined, quieter, luxurious vehicle.
