UrbanLink expands its eVTOL arsenal, partnering with CRISALION for services in Europe

Advanced air mobility (AAM) operator UrbanLink continues to make big moves in establishing a fleet of eVTOL aircraft for air taxi and other aerial mobility applications. Most recently, the company signed a new partnership with CRISALION Mobility out of Spain, committing to purchase 20 of the latter’s Integrity eVTOL aircraft as UrbanLink expands beyond its native state of Florida and overseas to at least two markets in Europe.

UrbanLink is a South Florida-based AAM working to deploy zero-emission mobility solutions by air and sea, using vessels like electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and seagliders.

UrbanLink has shared a company goal of enabling zero-emission, end-to-end travel within a 500-mile range by 2028 before expanding that range to 1,000 miles by 2030, beginning with its hub cities of Miami, Los Angeles, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The company believes its actions to date have adequately positioned it to become the first airline in the US to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into its fleet. That fleet continues to grow each and every month.

We’ve already seen UrbanLink commit to eVTOL purchases from several electric plane developers, including Artemis sea crafts, Eviation Aircraft, and Lilium, as we reported back in June. In September, the AAM operator announced it had committed to purchase 27 electric seagliders from REGENT Craft.

UrbanLink founder and chairman Ed Wegel told Electrek that the order from REGENT is binding with hard deposits, and the company’s next order is similar as soon as the eVTOLs are certified for regulatory flight. Those new vessels come from CRISALION Mobility as UrbanLink moves to expand its eVTOL network outside of Florida and into the skies of Europe.

UrbanLink shared details of a new partnership today alongside CRISALION Mobility, an eVTOL developer based in Spain that was founded in 2019. CRISALION’s flagship eVTOL model is called the Insight and features the company’s patented technology, FlyFree, which maximizes aircraft stability and has already been successfully tested during flights in Europe.

As part of the partnership, UrbanLink has committed to 20 Integrity eVTOL aircraft on a pre-sale basis. That purchase commitment brings CRISALION’s total pre-sales of Integrity to 145 units across four continents. Once the Integrity is certified by local regulators, UrbanLink intends to deploy the eVTOLs overseas to bolster its operations in Europe, initially focusing on the Spanish and Italian markets.

Per the images above, those initial cities in Europe include Madrid in Spain and Milan in Italy. UrbanLink founder Ed Wegel elaborated:

We are proud to partner with CRISALION, one of Europe’s most well-funded and expertly managed eVTOL manufacturers. The Integrity’s innovative design, which significantly reduces vibration while optimizing range and speed, is truly impressive. We are excited to bring these aircraft to routes connecting Madrid,  Milan, and other major European cities.

CRISALION Mobility will continue to develop the Integrity eVTOL in Europe. It can transport up to five passengers and a pilot and is versatile enough for urban and intercity transport of passengers and/or cargo.

There was no shared timeline for when CRISALION expects Integrity to receive flight certification for eVTOL operations in Europe. Still, if and when that does happen, UrbanLink and several other companies are ready to lock in their purchases.
