To promote emissions-free rides in the UK, Uber has teamed up with Lotus to deploy a fleet of the latter’s Eletre Hyper EVs around London. Now through the end of November, London commuters can book a ride in an Eletre by selecting Uber Green in their app. Better yet, the rider who saves the most emissions will win free Uber Green rides for the next ten years.
The Lotus Eletre is a new, all-electric Hyper SUV from Lotus Cars. It was originally teased in 2021 before making its official debut a year later. Following the start of production and deliveries in China, Lotus began taking orders for its latest BEV model in North America and Europe this past April.
We’ve since seen an ultra-luxe “Carbon” variant debut in North America as Lotus transitions into an all-electric future of top-tier performance EVs. To promote its latest model and sustainability ethos, Lotus has teamed up with Uber in England to provide luxury rides to rideshare customers who opt to travel without emissions.
To encourage the use of those Lotus BEVs in London specifically, Uber is giving away a decade of complimentary rides to the customer who save’s the most emissions next month.
Uber Green offers rides in a Lotus Eletre through November
Lotus shared details of its latest promotion with Uber this morning, which entails the deployment of a fleet of Eletre SUVs around London. According to Uber, nearly 30% of its driver miles traveled around London are already all-electric, and to reward those customers, it is offering luxury rides in a new Eletre SUV.
Locals and tourists around London can book a Lotus BEV via the Uber Green option in their rideshare app, but only for a limited time. To sweeten the deal, Uber is enabling its riders to track their zero-emission miles traveled, and whoever tallies the most miles by the end of November will receive free Uber Green rides for the next ten years. Per Uber UK General Manager
Andrew Brem:
We are incredibly excited to partner with Uber to have a fleet of our all-electric Lotus Eletre available in London via the app for passengers to experience and enjoy. We hope this initiative will not only enhance the riding experience for Uber customers but also contribute to a greener city, something we at Lotus are very passionate about.
Since Uber began service in London, it says it has saved 55,000 tons of carbon emissions in the English capital alone. In addition to promoting zero-emissions travel, Uber Green drivers earn a 10% higher commission than UberX rides. At the same time, riders pay the same rate as the latter option to go all-electric in their travels.
If you’re in London, look for those Lotus Eletre SUVs driving around for Uber Green. Best of luck to the rider who saves the most emissions now through November 30.
