We get the first look at the 2019 Chevy Bolt EV with the new ‘Shock’ color and we are about to test the vehicle so please tell us what you want to know about the car.
We have already learned a little about the new model year Bolt EV earlier this year through some information leaked by GM dealerships.
So far it doesn’t look like a very significant model year update.
The biggest difference appears to be the fact that GM is offering three new colors:
- Green Mist Metallic
- Slate Gray Metallic
- Shock
We have already seen Green Mist Metallic and Slate Gray Metallic on other GM vehicles before, but ‘Shock’ is brand new to the Bolt EV.
Redditor /u/ezcry4t3d picked up one of the first 2019 Bolt EV in Texas last week and he chose the ‘Shock’ color. He shared a few images with Electrek:
The new color already replaced the flagship burnt organge of the 2018 model year as the premium color for the Bolt EV.
We will get a chance to test drive the new 2019 Bolt EV and the new 2019 Volt at a GM event later this week. We will report back with all the details and our impressions.
Electrek’s Take
I am not a big fan of that color. It looks like a tennis ball, but that’s just my opinion. I prefer how the Bolt EV looks in white and black.
But like the burnt orange, it is a flashy color that grabs attention and it can help spark up a conversation about the electric car, which is always good for EV awareness.
In that sense, I like the idea of that color.
We will test out the 2019 Bolt EV and the new 2019 Volt on Wednesday and Thursday. If you have any specific questions that you want us to ask or things that you want us to look out for during the test drives, please let us in the comment section below.
