Renault has been doing a pretty good job at increasing the range of its electric vehicles this year. It started with introducing a new 41 kWh battery pack for the ZOE, which resulted in a best-in-class range of around 200 miles. Now the French automaker wants to upgrade its all-electric cargo van, Kangoo ZE, and confirmed it will unveil a new version of the vehicle next month with 50% more range.
The company claims an increase from 170 km to 270 km (105 miles to 168 miles) in range on a single charge. That’s on the NEDC European cycle, which isn’t exactly bad for the use cases of a cargo van.
Renault will present the new Kangoo ZE on January 13 at the 2017 European Motor Show in Brussels, Belgium. More information should be available after the unveiling. The previous version started at €25,000 (~$26,500 USD).
The new version is expected to go in production shortly after at Renault’s Maubeuge plant in northern France.
Renault doesn’t sell in the US, but its global partner, Nissan, is developing electric vehicle programs alongside Renault, including its own all-electric cargo van.
