VW reveals design sketches of its upcoming all-electric car concept to debut in Paris

Two weeks ago, Volkswagen confirmed that it will unveil an all-electric concept car at the 2016 Paris Motor show next month and released a few teaser images. Now the German Automaker releases the design sketches of the model – revealing a few design features in the process.

As previously reported, the new car will be built on VW’s new modular electrification kit (MEB) and it will be part of its plan to build 2 to 3 million all-electric cars a year and unveil 30 new models by 2025.

The Golf-size vehicle is expected to have a range of over 200 miles on a single charge and be equipped with the new fast-charging technology that Volkswagen announced with the Porsche Mission E. It should enable an ~80% charge in ~15 minutes.

Here are the new design sketches:

They are not telling us much other than confirming the shape, which looks like a flatter Golf. The second row doors are sliding doors which is an interesting concept.

But what catches my eyes are the new sensors on the top. It’s not clear what they are, but the packaging looks remarkably similar to the new lidar sensors on the Faraday Future prototypes:

It wouldn’t be surprising if VW announces that this new concept will feature advanced autonomous features.

We will have to wait until next week at the Paris Motor Show for more details.
