Tesla announces new ‘mobile design studios’ using Airstream trailers towed by the Model X

You want to see a Tesla store but they are too far away from where you live? Tesla has a solution (only in North America for now). Building on its experience with the “mobile pop-up store” built out of shipping containers developed in-house by Tesla, the automaker is now launching a new ‘Tesla Explores’ program to roll out new ‘mobile design studios’ using Airstream trailers towed by the Model X.

The vehicles are already going to a dozen locations which can be tracked on Tesla’s website and you can request Tesla to come to your town, again through the page on its website.

There are currently two Tesla Mobile Design Studios in Southern California moving north, and two more in New York, and another in New Jersey.

Tesla writes:

“Tesla is hitting the road across North America with our first-ever Tesla mobile Design Studios. Get the complete Tesla experience and design the Model S or Model X of your dreams as our fleet of mobile galleries roams to destinations near and far.”

The new program will enable Tesla to feature the Model X and highlight its towing capacity while also expanding its retail presence.

Last month, Tesla’s VP of retail hinted at ‘drastic redesign of its retail concept’ ahead of Model 3 launch. We could be witnessing the start of this redesign with this new program.
