You can now configure Tesla Model 3’s interior in the unofficial design studio

A few weeks ago, we reported on a Tesla enthusiast and Model 3 reservation holder, Bayol, building an unofficial Model 3 online design studio to configure the vehicle with different wheels and colors.

At the time, there was a tab for the interior, but it was only featuring a placeholder picture of the Millennium Falcon. Today Bayol updated his project and you can now configure the interior of the Model 3 with several choices of headliners, upholstery and other interior finishes.

The interior of the Model 3 has been somewhat controversial among Tesla enthusiasts. The lack of instrument cluster and the center 15-in display with all the controls raised a few eyebrows.

Some speculated that the concept is hinting at the possibility of either a heads-up display or fully autonomous technology integration. Musk commented that it will make more sense after the second part of the Model 3 unveiling, which will happen closer to production in late 2017.

Tesla also blocked access to interior of the Model 3 prototypes during third-party photoshoots and the automaker didn’t include any pictures of the interior in its own promotional pictures, which could indicate that the final product will be different from what we saw at the unveil.

A week after the unveiling, Tesla hired Porsche’s lead designer for the Mission E’s interior.

Regardless of potential future changes, based on the current interior of the prototype, I think I’d go with a Silver Metallic paint job with grey turbine wheels and black leather seats with carbon fiber decor for the interior:
