Motor Trend is still teasing its exclusive photoshoot with a Model 3 prototypes at the Gigafactory and released another behind the scene live video of the shoot. Who can blame them since it’s obviously working.
We all want to see more of the car and driving around the Gigafactory is not a bad way to feature it.
Just like last week’s video, the publication wasn’t allowed to shoot the interior of the vehicle, which is expected to change significantly in the production version. Tesla’s own promotional pictures never featured the interior.
Now Motor Trend wasn’t allowed to drive the prototype. A Tesla employee was driving the vehicle, while the Motor Trend team was in a van to take the pictures. During the unveil event last month, Tesla employees were giving the test rides and attendees were not able to drive the prototypes made available for the event.
Here’s Motor Trend’s video:
It’s also interesting to have a look behind the scene of a Motor Trend car photoshoot.
The bulk of the pictures are not yet available online, but the publications released a few here.

reserved, most likely get this color. like how the wheels spin like that, hope that comes with a basic and awd option.

Hmm. Not seeing any link, but last’s week’s appears. . . .
Did you open the article from the homepage?
@electro: you do of course understand that the wheel spin forward/reverse effect is an artifact of the video scan rate, right? The wheels don’t actually seem to spin like that to the human eye when you see them turning in person.
“The wheels don’t actually seem to spin like that to the human eye when you see them turning in person.”
Really?? That’s how it’s always appeared to me IRL.
You must have camera eyes, or some unusual corrective glasses.
they got the Mod3 off Tesla property???!!! Edward Loh must be pretty good. I noticed that the car magazines’s west coast HQ are in LA. Tesla made them drive ~450 miles to come and see the Model 3. On the flip side, this means a lot less spying on Tesla. The only way to see into the GF area is on the big hill north of the building. Add the cloak of darkness and Tesla has a wonderful secret proving grounds.
And to shoot down any drones
They specifically asked if they could film at the Gigafactory.
I’m aware. Above Reno has been pretty brazen running their drone, but its at least FAA certified.
