From today’s Apple Stockholder meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook was asked twice about any type of acquisition with Tesla Motors. First he noted that he wished they’d join up with Car Play, Apple’s In Dash remote for iOS devices. The second time he was asked he simply said he didn’t have any non-denial denials saved up. So there you have it. Nothing.
Frankly, I think what Tesla has is better than CarPlay so far but it wouldn’t hurt to add some more integration with iOS and Android.

I´d love to see (and buy) a google-free Tesla.
And I dearly wish, Tesla and Apple would create a car together. Somekind of Model S iEdition. The drivetrain sophistication and all “under the hood” fromTesla, but with full fledged Apple eco-system (with IT hardware like A8, 4G) and an all new Apple-design of the dashboard (especially) and some little tweaks for the bodydesign. And please Tesla, get rid of the threshold in the back, when second row is laid flat – so that it is really flat.
“Google Free” meaning they get rid of Google Maps? Everyone but the most hardcore Apple fans acknowledge that Google maps are superior.
Totally Google free. No Google maps. No Google browser or search. I don´t trust them. I don´t want my car to “call home”.
There are other nice Maps and navigation solutions out there. On my iPhone I´m using Apple maps and some other solutions as Garmin/Navigon and open streetmaps, and I´m fine with that. No Google maps on my iPhone.
With an iOS in the car there could be the Apple AppStore within to deliver other great apps.
As a Customer I would like at leastto to have the choice to switch off all Googlestuff.

Well, yes I thought that the browser in the Model S comes also (like maps) from Google. Also because I guess that, under the skin of the System, an Android system is running (?). But you´r right, I have no certain info about that.
These will be some questions of course, that I have to ask the Tesla staff. Didn´t managed to have a testdrive yet.
But to be clear: I love Tesla, their execution, mission and visionary power. The world of ICE has to end as soon as possible.
Yeah Browser is Webkit and OS is Embedded Linux.
Sad to see two of my favorite companies that have so many aligned values seemingly treating each other with a perceptible disdain. Makes think there is bad blood for some reason.
