The China-based electric car and bus manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) announced the delivery of the world’s largest electric bus fleet to the city of Shenzhen in China.
BYD offers a selection of 30 to 60 feet battery-powered buses, which can be equipped with a massive battery pack with a capacity of up to 324 kWh.
Without going in details about the delivery, the company published impressive drone footage of Shenzhen’s new fleet, which highlights its incredible scale.
BYD released the following statement:
“We end our year with the unprecedented delivery of a huge pure electric bus fleet to the city of Shenzhen, making significant headway towards sustainable development, and hoping cities worldwide will follow suit. What a wonderful way to welcome 2016.”

Great to see, the beginning of a new era. 20 years from now we’ll look back and laugh at how terrible and inefficient gas/diesel was; very exciting times.
20 years? I laugh right now at how terrible and inefficient gas/diesel are. I’m laughing so much I’ve tears in my eyes. Oh wait, that’s actually the air pollution making my eyes water.
There are those who lead, those who follow and those who should just get out of the way. It’s pretty clear how the Chinese see themselves. I read this and the story about the Gogoro Scooter, choosing its launch city as TaiPei. Openness to change is going to be the key to future success.
