Kia launches the EV4 GT in Canada, bringing more power and attitude

Kia opened orders for the 2027 EV4 GT, its third “affordable” EV to receive the GT treatment in Canada.

The EV4 is the all-electric sedan (and hatch) we want in the US, but can’t have. Kia said it was delaying the EV4 for the US “indefinitely” almost a year ago, and that’s the last we’ve heard.

At least those in Canada can buy it. Kia launched the standard EV4 in late 2025, deeming it Canada’s most affordable EV. Starting at CA$38,995, Kia’s electric sedan is even cheaper than the Fiat 500e (CA$39,995).

Kia added the GT variant this week, which adds a sporty new look, new standard features, and improved performance over the standard EV4.

Like all Kia GT vehicles, the EV4 features exclusive neon-accented calipers, suede and synthetic leather seats, 20″ alloy wheels, a themed cluster, and a GT button on the steering wheel for a performance boost.

The EV4 GT also has a trim-exclusive head-up display (HUD) that projects the vehicle’s speed, navigation instructions, and other key driver info directly on the windshield.

Powered by the larger 81.4 kWh battery, the EV4 GT offers a Kia-estimated 431 km (267 miles) of range.

The GT version features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain, delivering a combined 288 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque.

In comparison, the standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) EV4 uses a single front-mounted electric motor with 201 horsepower and 209 lb-ft of torque.

The standard EV4 is available in five different trims: Light FWD Standard Range, Wind FWD Long Range, Wind Premium FWD Long Range, GT-Line FWD Long Range, and GT-Line Limited FWD Long Range.

The 2027 Kia EV4 GT is now available as a factory order at certified Kia dealerships, starting at CA$58,595. The all-in price, which includes freight, environmental, and other fees, is CA$61,344.

While those in the US will miss out on the EV4 and EV4 GT (at least for the foreseeable future), Kia did finally launch the EV3.

Starting at just $29,890, the 2027 Kia EV3 is among the most affordable EVs in the US. In Canada, it is now the lowest-priced EV, according to Kia.
