Hyundai’s three-row IONIQ 9 electric SUV looks even better on the road [Video]

The wait is over: Hyundai’s new IONIQ 9 SUV is finally here. The three-row IONIQ 9 promises to “redefine EV mobility” with its sleek, futuristic design and tech-loaded interior. If the new electric SUV caught your eye after its debut, wait until you see it on the road.

At the LA Auto Show last month, Hyundai officially unveiled the IONIQ 9, its first three-row electric SUV. The larger electric SUV stole the show with a bold new look, a spacious interior, and advanced new features.

The SUV features Hyundai’s new Aerosthetic design language. A streamlined roof and flush exterior profile provide an open, “lounge-like” cabin with space for seven passengers. The first and second-row seats can fully recline and even include a leg rest.

At 5,060 mm (199.2″) long, 1,980 mm (78″) wide, and 1,790 mm (70.5″) tall, the IONIQ 9 is slightly smaller than the Rivian R1S at 200.8″ long, 82″ wide, and 77.3″ tall.

Powered by a massive 110.3 kWh battery pack, Hyundai’s electric SUV has an estimated EPA range of 335 miles (620 km WLTP range). That’s for the Long-Range RWD model with 19″ wheels.

The Long-Range RWD model has a 160 kW rear motor, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 9.4 seconds. A Performance trim features another 160 kW front motor for a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) time in just 5.2 seconds.

Hyundai packed the interior with its latest software and connectivity tech, including improved EV route planning. The IONIQ 9 has dual 12″ clusters and integrated monitors, all part of a panoramic curved display.

It also includes e-Active Sound Design, which mimics the virtual driving sound of an EV through the vehicle’s audio system.

With a native NACS port, the IONIQ 9 can also charge up at Tesla Superchargers. With a 350 kW charger, the Hyundai new electric SUV can fast charge (10% to 80%) in just 24 minutes despite its size.

Scaled down slightly, it would be a very attractive two-row station wagon.
