Range Rover is finally ready to sell its first electric SUV: Here’s everything we know

Range Rover has confirmed the electric SUV is still set to go on sale in the next few months, after it was delayed last year.

When is Range Rover launching its first electric SUV?

While the Range Rover Electric was initially scheduled to hit showrooms by the end of 2025, JLR informed buyers that deliveries won’t begin until 2026.

According to the latest update, the EV is still on track to launch by the end of the year. After renewing its partnership with The Championships, Wimbledon on Friday, Range Rover announced it will offer an early preview of the electric SUV at the event.

The Range Rover Electric will be showcased at The Championship in British Racing Green, paying homage to the golden age of British motorsports.

Range Rover said its first EV will “deliver a new level of refinement, combining a serene, crafted cabin with effortless power delivery and the brand’s signature capability” when it launches later this year.

“Previewing Range Rover Electric at The Championships is a significant moment for us – an opportunity to showcase the future of our brand in an environment that embodies prestige and tradition,” Range Rover’s managing director, Martin Limpert, said on Friday.

The electric SUV is currently on something of a summer tour, being displayed at several curated events ahead of orders opening later this year.

Last month, the first pre-production model, built in the UK, was shown at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

After reporting Q4 and FY2026 earnings in May, JLR’s CEO, PB Blaji, said the company was preparing to launch a “slew of exciting products starting with the Range Rover Electric” in 2026.

Range Rover’s electric SUV has received over 61,000 pre-orders ahead of its official launch later this year.

What to expect

While the company has yet to reveal official prices or specs, Range Rover’s executive director of product engineering, Thomas Müller, said the electric version is already outperforming some of its top gas-powered models.

“Range Rover Electric matches the performance of its ICE equivalents; in some instances, even surpassing them,” Müller said after driving it up to 328 ft (100 meters) on sand dunes last year.

We do know it will use a massive 117 kWh battery and will ride on JLR’s first in-house 800V architecture, which is expected to provide a driving range of at least 300 miles. The dual-motor setup delivers a combined 542 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, enabling a towing capacity of over 7,700 lbs (2.5 tons).

Built to conquer any terrain, the electric SUV features new functions and components, such as single-pedal driving and a switchable twin-chamber air suspension system.

The Range Rover EV will be available in standard- and long-wheelbase variants. The extended-wheelbase version will be about the same size as the outgoing Range Rover SUV, but it’s expected to offer considerably more second-row space.

According to Autocar, which tested an early prototype, the Range Rover aims for a price close to that of the V8 Autobiography, at just under £150,000 ($200,300).

JLR said it has already tested new EV production lines at its Solihull plant in the UK as it prepares to launch the Range Rover Electric.
