BMW updates new iX3 range to 434 miles in the US, and then drops it back to 400 miles

The new iX3 will go on sale soon as BMW’s first Neue Klasse EV. Ahead of its US launch, BMW updated the 2027 iX3 range estimates to 434 miles.

BMW is kicking off a new era with the 2027 iX3, the first Neue Klasse model, promising a 30% improvement in driving range and 30% faster charging than its current EV lineup.

Based on its Gen6 eDrive and a 108.7 kWh battery, the new iX3 offers a WLTP range of up to 500 miles (805 km).

In the US, BMW initially estimated the 2027 iX3 could drive 400 miles on a single charge. BMW updated its website on Wednesday, bumping EPA driving range estimates to a whopping 434 miles. At that, BMW’s electric SUV would be among the few EVs in the US offering a range of over 400 miles.

Update 4/30/26: BMW has since removed the 434-mile range estimate and replaced it with the initial 400-mile range on its website.

With a peak DC fast-charging capacity of up to 400 kW, BMW said the 2027 iX3 can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes.

The interior is upgraded with BMW’s Neue Klasse cabin design, featuring a 17.9″ touchscreen infotainment system at the center and the BMW Panoramic Vision 3D Head-Up Display spanning the entire base of the windshield.

After opening orders in Europe in September, BMW’s CEO Oliver Zipse revealed that over 50,000 buyers ordered the new iX3 in just six months, or a third of the company’s total since its debut.

BMW began deliveries in Europe last month, with prices starting at €73,925 ($85,200). In the US, the 2026 BMW iX3 50 xDrive will go on sale this summer with a starting MSRP of around $60,000. It will be available in both single- and dual-motor variants in early 2027.

While it apparently won’t offer 434 miles, at 400 miles, the 2027 BMW iX3 will still be among the longest range EVs available in the US.
