Toyota made it way easier to set up EV chargers at home, now that it finally has EVs to sell

Toyota teamed up with Treehouse to make it as easy as possible for EV and PHEV owners to install Level 2 home chargers.

Toyota taps Treehouse for home EV charger installation

Waking up with a full charge every morning is one of the best parts about driving an electric vehicle, but that requires a home charger.

Toyota has a new idea to help drivers get set up. Treehouse uses advanced software to offer a one-stop shop for home EV charging installation.

The electrical contractors handle everything from scoping and design to inspections and even permit filing. Using Treehouse’s proprietary virtual scoping technology, all you have to do is send in a handful of photos and take a short survey.

Treehouse manages the rest, working with licensed electricians to upgrade and install the electrical systems required for the home charger.

All 2026 and newer Toyota EVs and PHEVs, including Lexus, come standard with a dual-voltage 120V/240V home charger, enabling Level 1 or Level 2 charging. The chargers come with a three-year warranty for Toyota vehicles and a four-year warranty for Lexus models.

With a max output of 7.7 kW, Toyota said the home EV charger can charge a vehicle from 10% to full battery overnight.

You can also opt for a ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger, available through Treehouse, which, the company says, can reduce charging times by up to 30%.

The new partnership comes as Toyota adds three new electric SUVs to its lineup this year. After upgrading the bZ for the 2026 model year, Toyota introduced the smaller C-HR and rugged bZ Woodland EVs. Later this year, the Highlander EV, Toyota’s first three-row electric SUV, will go on sale, adding a fourth EV to the mix.

Toyota’s upgraded bZ was among the best-selling EVs in the US last month. Will its new electric SUVs see the same demand?

With the new electric SUVs arriving at dealerships, Toyota is offering a $5,000 customer cash bonus and 0% financing on each vehicle to kick things off. You can use the links below to see which deals are available near you.
