The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland is a bigger and more powerful EV: Is it worth the higher price?

The bZ Woodland is longer than Toyota’s first electric SUV, and it comes with all-wheel drive as standard. Is it worth the added price?

Toyota is adding a new electric SUV to its lineup in 2026. The new bZ Woodland offers an outdoorsy twist on the standard bZ, with added ground clearance, an AWD powertrain, and off-road elements like all-terrain tires and a roof rack.

The rugged electric SUV is nearly 6″ longer than the 2026 bZ, opening up an extra 30 cubic feet of cargo space on the inside.

Unlike the 2026 bZ, the bZ Woodland has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain, delivering 375 horsepower. That’s 37 hp more than the standard version.

It also features a more upright, SUV-like stance with 8.3″ of ground clearance and can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Although the bZ Woodland is powered by the same 74.7 kWh battery as the longer-range bZ, Toyota expects the driving range to drop to 260 miles due to the added power.

The 2026 bZ Woodland comes with a built-in NACS port to recharge at Tesla Superchargers. Toyota said the electric SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

Inside, it looks about the same as the bZ with a 14″ touchscreen infotainment screen. The system is equipped with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system as standard, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

According to Car and Driver, the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland starts at $46,750, or over $10,000 more than the 2026 bZ, which is priced from just $34,900.

Even compared to the Subaru Trailseeker, which is essentially a rebadged bZ Woodland, Toyota’s electric SUV seems expensive.

The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker starts at $41,445, or more than $5,000 less than the bZ Woodland. Why such a big price gap? It could be due to the standard features, which Toyota has yet to reveal.

The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland will be available in base and premium trims, with the latter starting at $48,850.

Upgrading to the bZ Woodland Premium package gains a premium JBL Audio System, panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, and a front radiant heater. Subaru offers three Trailseeker trims: Premium, Limited, and Touring.

Which one would you choose? The bZ Woodland or Trailseeker? Later this year, Toyota will introduce a smaller electric crossover, the 2026 C-HR, adding a third EV to its lineup.
