The 641hp Hyundai IONIQ 6 N launches in the UK with a new virtual gear shift and fun extras

Hyundai’s second performance EV is now available to order in the UK. The IONIQ 6 N delivers up to 641 horsepower for a 0-62 mph time in just 3.2 seconds, but the sporty EV offers much more than just raw power.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 N prices and specs in the UK

A few months after the IONIQ 6 N made its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last July, Hyundai launched the electric sports car in its home market of South Korea.

On Thursday, Hyundai opened orders for the UK, announcing prices and additional details. The IONIQ 6 N is priced at £65,800 ($88,700) on the road (OTR).

Powered by an 84 kWh battery, it has a driving range of up to 302 miles (487 km). Like the IONIQ 5 N, it’s equipped with a dual motor powertrain, delivering up to 641 hp (478.1 kW) and 545.8 lb-ft (740 Nm) of torque.

That’s when N Launch Control and N Grin Boost are engaged. Hyundai’s N Grin Boost provides a 10-second power boost to unlock the vehicle’s full potential at the push of a button. Without it, output drops to 601 horsepower and about 545 lb-ft of torque.

While it offers many of the same features as the IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai has improved them for the IONIQ 6 N. The N e-Shift, a virtual gear shift (VGS), and N Active Sound+ system have been upgraded with shorter gear ratios and hardware upgrades.

With models now rolling out across South Korea, we got a look at some of the new IONIQ 6 N features in action this week (see the video here), including the e-Shift and N Active Sound+ systems.

Other fun features include customizable N-Dift Optimized and N Race modes, and Pre-Loaded Racetrack Maps (or you can create your own).

Inside, the interior is “optimized for high-performance driving” with exclusive bucket seats and N metal pedals. It also includes an N logo welcome lighting on the front seats and Hyundai’s latest ccNC infotainment system. To top it off, Hyundai included an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (HUD).

Measuring 4,935 mm in length, 1,940 in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,965 mm, the IONIQ 6 N is about the size of the Porsche Taycan and BMW M3, but significantly cheaper.

We should learn prices for the US soon. Since the current most expensive IONIQ 6 Limited starts at $51,100, the performance N trim will likely be priced around $65,000 to $70,000. The 2025 IONIQ 5 N starts at $66,200.
