Electrify America already has 30 fast-charging stations online, hundreds more to come

Electrify America is quickly ramping up deployment of its electric vehicle charging infrastructure ahead of the many new EVs rolling out next year.

The VW subsidiary already has 30 fast-charging stations online, and it has hundreds more to come.

VW launched Electrify America as part of its $2 billion settlement with the EPA and CARB over the Dieselgate scandal.

While the deal was controversial, it is quickly turning out real-world deployment of charging infrastructure.

The company updated its map of charging stations for its nationwide ultra-fast charging network and it now has 30 stations online – most of them are equipped with 7 CCS and 1 CHAdeMO charge point.

Several hundred more stations are planned in the coming months according to the map:

Many of them are located at Walmart locations. The retail giant signed a deal VW’s Electrify America earlier this year to deploy charging stations.

They plan for ‘more than 100 Walmart stores’ to be home to Electrify America’s ‘ultra-fast’ charging stations.

As part of the first phase of the company’s required investment, they ultimately planned to be able to deploy “over 2,000 DC ultra-fast chargers at nearly 500 sites in metro and highway locations across 40 states and 17 major cities by June 2019.”

After that, the company plans to continue investing in its network and eventually become a profitable business on its own.

They have different deals with the EPA and CARB in California.
