Tesla version 9 video walkthrough and Atari game Easter Eggs

We are gradually learning more about Tesla’s version 9 software update as the automaker is slowly rolling it out to more owners.

Now we get a quick Tesla version 9 video walkthrough of the new firmware in a Model S and a look at the Atari video game Easter Eggs.

Yesterday, we broke down the changes and new features coming with the update based on vehicle and region: Tesla Version 9.0: all new features based on your Model 3, Model S, or Model X generation.

We already had a pretty good look at the update on Model 3, but now we also get to see the new software running on a Model S.

A Model S owner based in Europe, known as Soma Zambelly on Youtube, received the update on his pre-Autopilot vehicle and shared a quick video walkthrough of the new UI on the center console:

As we can see, the biggest change is that drivers will now interact more with the center console through the new app launcher at the bottom instead of the menu at the top in previous versions.

In the media app, we can see Spotify, but that’s because the vehicle is in Europe where Tesla uses the service for in-car music streaming.

It is still not the streaming service used in Tesla’s North American fleet.

As promised by CEO Elon Musk, Tesla also included an Atari video game emulator as an Easter Egg in the version 9 software update.

The Model S owner also included a short demonstration of the 3 games available:

As usual, keep in mind that Tesla gradually pushes its software updates to its fleet. It can take days or weeks to make it to everyone.

Earlier this week, Musk said that Tesla was aiming for a wider rollout by the end of the week.

In the meantime, you can check out what features you should get with the update based on your Tesla and your location.
