Elon Musk pokes fun at Tesla haters with April Fool’s joke about the company going bankrupt

Tesla had a rough week on the stock market last week and plenty of Tesla naysayers started claiming that it is the beginning of the end for the electric automaker.

Now CEO Elon Musk pokes fun at those naysayers with an April fool joke about the company going bankrupt.

As we reported last week, Tesla’s (TSLA) stock lost over $4 billion in value in one day over a series of bad news.

Several industry analysts predict that Tesla will push its Model 3 production goals again and they will require raising more capital in order to stay afloat.

Now Musk seems to be addressing the situation in a series of tweets that clearly appears to be an April fool joke:

If you are not convinced that he is joking around, the two following tweets should remove any doubt:

In following tweets, Musk suggested that he could be releasing the ‘Teslaquilla’.

Electrek’s Take

I’m not the biggest fan of April fool joke, especially when they are purposely made to be perceived as real by a reasonable person, but at least it’s not the case here.

And it does make Elon look kinda of cocky going into the end of the quarter and the upcoming release of Tesla’s production and delivery numbers.

With this said, I wouldn’t go as far as saying that it means Tesla will not have to raise money, but as I discussed on Cheddar last week, Musk has had little to no issue raising capital over the last few years and there isn’t much indication that anything has changed on that front.

I take this as Musk showing some confidence in Tesla being able to survive this rough patch because it would otherwise be a very awkward joke to make publicly.
