Tacita launches new electric motorcycle cruiser with a massive battery pack

Tacita, an Italian electric motorcycle maker who has so far been making electric motocross bikes, has now entered the North American market and launched a new electric motorcycle cruiser with ‘up to 168 miles of range’.

These maniacs managed to achieve this range by fitting a massive 27 kWh battery pack in the bike.

It’s impressive because that’s actually a higher energy capacity than in some electric cars for sale today but in a motorcycle cruiser.

The vehicle is called T-Cruise and it is offered with a 30kW electric motor, capable of 52 lb-ft of torque, according to VisorDown.

The drivetrain remains the same, but they offer 3 different battery pack options for the range:

  • a 7.5 kWh battery pack for a range of up to 50 miles – $10,999 (£8,283)
  • a 15 kWh battery pack for a range of up to 93 miles – $14,999 (£11,296)
  • a 27.5 kWh battery pack for a range of up to 168 miles – $27,999 (£21,086)

The bike itself looks like a traditional American cruiser but with clearly visible electric components instead of the usual twin-engine.

It’s highly customizable with 28 different color options, three-way adjustable footpegs, and optional Italian eco-leather panniers.

Where Tacita’s T-Cruise differentiate itself from other electric motorbikes is with a five-speed gearbox with hydraulic clutch. Normally, electric motorbikes, like most EVs, have a single speed gearbox, but Tacita says that it wants to give its riders the best gear ratio for every situation.

Furthermore, every battery pack option is fast-charging capable and support CCS.

Overall, it looks like an interesting new entry in the electric motorbike market and certainly something that differentiate itself from what we see on the market today from more established companies like Zero Motorcycles and Energica.
