After a soft launch in California last year, GM’s Chevy Bolt EV is now arriving in Canada – or at least one Bolt EV has arrived in Canada. GM’s Bourgeois Chevrolet dealership in Rawdon, Quebec, announced that it received its first all-electric Bolt EV.
GM started taking orders for the vehicle in Canada last month.
It starts at $43,000 CAD, which is not a bad price when you consider the exchange rate (~$33,000).
Additionally, the Bolt EV comes with the DC fast-charging option as a standard in Canada, while it is a $750 USD option in the US.
It’s not clear what kind of availability the vehicle will have in Canada. For example, it was almost impossible to get the Chevy Spark EV, GM’s only other all-electric vehicle. Bourgeois Chevrolet was one of the rare dealerships able to import the car, but only in small quantities.
Now that Quebec adopted a ZEV mandate, it should be much easier for Quebec customers to get electric compliance cars. It will only be implemented in 2018, but automakers will retroactively get credits for cars delivered in 2017. Quebec also offers a $8,000 rebate at the purchase of electric vehicles
