Elon Musk confirms ‘Tesla Model 3 Part 3’ to release more details on upcoming electric vehicle

Elon Musk is sticking with the idea that yesterday’s announcement was the ‘part 2’ of the Tesla Model 3 unveil, but considering it was light on details about the upcoming $35,000 all-electric vehicle, he confirmed that a ‘Tesla Model 3 Part 3’ is coming:

That’s reassuring since while yesterday’s announcement is extremely exciting, it didn’t really answer the most important question we were told ‘part 2’ would clarify.

Musk previously said that the reason why there’s no instrument cluster in the early Model 3 would be revealed at the ‘part 2’ of the unveiling.

We already established that there are really only two ways to make a car without an instrument cluster: make it only fully autonomous or have a heads-up display to replace it.

But now that Tesla announced the details of its fully autonomous package, it’s clear that it can’t be the solution alone. While the company confirmed that the hardware will be standard on all Model 3 vehicles, the option is currently expensive at $8,000.

While it could go down by the time the Model 3 becomes available, the $35,000 price tag will never be achieved with the fully autonomous option. Therefore, the Model 3 will need to be a manual car standard with the option to upgrade to self-driving with an update at a premium.

That means that the Model 3 still needs an instrument cluster replacement . Tesla HUD/Tesla Glass is likely still in the cards, but for an unveiling at what we will now be referring to as ‘Model 3 part 3’, which will hopefully happen sooner rather than later.
