Good news for all you weirdos driving on the wrong side of the road. Tesla started taking orders for the Right-Hand Drive (RHD) Model X in Hong Kong – hinting at the version of the vehicle getting closer to full production and therefore, new market introductions.

After the UK, Australia and now Hong Kong, Tesla has now opened its configuration system for the Model X in its main RHD markets. In most markets, Tesla is projecting delivery in “late 2016” while it is now starting deliveries in LHD markets in Europe and in China.

During the last quarter, Tesla delivered 4,625 Model X but produced many more because it ramped up production during the last few weeks of the month – leaving several vehicles in transit.

The Model X introduction in Hong Kong will also mark the last Model X ‘Founders series’ delivery. In a previous round of Tesla’s referral program, the company was giving away the limited-edition Model X to the top referrers in each region (NA, EU, and Asia).

Earlier this month, Tesla delivered the vehicles to Sylvain Juteau and Bjorn Nyland, the leaders of the North American and European leaderboard respectively, but the company has yet to deliver the Model X to the leader in Asia and also the overall leaderboard, only known as Wei, who managed to get an unbelievable 188 total referrals during the round of the program.

Over the weekend, Wei received the request from Tesla to configure his Model X and sent us a copy:

Earlier this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk held a special event for Tesla owners in Hong Kong during which he described the city as a ‘beacon city for EVs’ and announced that the Model X would start shipping during the second half of the year for the region.

Hong Kong is an important market for Tesla and it delivered over 2,000 Model S vehicles since its introduction about two years ago in 2014. During the event earlier this year, Musk also disclosed plans for expansion in the city, which includes a new service center and more Superchargers. There are now 12 Supercharger locations in the city of ~400 square-mile.
