Last year, we reported on the startup Taxelco acquiring the second largest taxi company in Montreal with a fleet of 500 cars and 1,000 drivers. The company soon started taking delivery of Kia Soul EVs, Nissan LEAFs and Tesla Model S’s in order to launch its Téo Taxi service which is an EV-only taxi service powered by a Uber-like app.

This week, the startup announced a new service based at the Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

In partnership with the airport, the company is assigning a fleet of ten Tesla Model S vehicles whose sole purpose is to ferry users to and from the airport.

The service is available starting this week. If you are coming to Montreal through Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport and you want to experience Téo Taxi’s service in a Tesla, you simply need to download their app (App StoreGoogle Play).

Some specifics: The drop-off zone is located at Gate 6 on the departure level. An information kiosk can be found nearby—the Téo Taxi logo should be easy to spot. Company representatives are on hand to answer any questions users may have.

It is currently offered under a pilot project authorized by the Quebec transport department and it will run at least until November 2017.

Marc Petit, CEO of Taxelco, on the announcement:

“Téo Taxi is stepping up its growth. In recent months, we’ve expanded our service area, integrated advertising domes, and added new vehicles to our fleet. We’ve also made service available 24/7. By launching this new service, Téo Taxi is taking a big step toward becoming a major industry player.”

The airport’s management is also happy to have a first fleet of EVs based at the location. James C. Cherry, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Montréal, on the announcement:

“We are pleased that Téo Taxi is now available at Montréal–Trudeau. This application-based service using a totally electric taxi fleet will contribute to innovating customer service and to reducing GHG emissions.”
