Switzerland-based Kyburz is now selling the EROD (via elektroauto), a small electric vehicle offered both as a kit car and as an assembled vehicle. It looks like a lot of fun to drive – see a few videos below.
The EROD weights 570 kg (1,250 lb) and can accelerate from 0 to 50 miles in just 5.7 seconds.
It is powered by a 18 kWh battery pack feeding a 40 kW electric motor. Kyburz says it has a range of up to 80 miles (130 km) on a single charge.
As a kit, it starts at $28,000 (25,000 Euro), and $38,000 (34,000 Euro) as an assembled car, which is a bit pricey, but if you have some talent as a mechanic, the kit option could be an interesting project with easy improvements for better battery tech and even a new motor.
We reached it out to Kyburz to ask if they plan to offer the EROD in the US.
