Lexus reveals 2027 TZ prices start under $65,000, with up to 315 miles of range

Lexus confirmed the 2027 TZ will go on sale later this year with prices starting under $65,000. The electric SUV will offer up to 315 miles of range on a single charge.

While the Toyota Highlander BEV and Subaru Getaway won’t arrive until 2027 as 2028 model-year vehicles now, Lexus will beat both with its first three-row electric SUV.

Lexus said the TZ will go on sale later this year as a 2027 model year. It will be available in three trims, starting at $64,050. The prices include a $1,550 delivery fee.

Based on the same platform as the electric Highlander, the Lexus TZ will be offered with two battery packs: 76.96 kWh and 95.82 kWh. The former provides an EPA-estimated range of up to 253 miles, while the latter gets up to 315 miles of range, slightly less than Lexus’ 320-mile estimate.

While it offers a bit less range, all TZ models come standard with an “evolved” version of its DIRECT4 AWD system.

The dual-motor AWD setup delivers a combined 308 horsepower, considerably less than the estimated 402 horsepower Lexus initially said.

Although it shares the same underpinnings as the Highlander BEV and Subaru Getaway, Lexus promises the TZ will look and feel like a Lexus, with fine-tuned suspension, dynamic rear steering, and reinforced body structure.

Inside, the three-row electric SUV features the latest Lexus Interface multimedia system. The setup includes customizable widgets, an improved Voice Assistant, and full-screen navigation on the digital cluster.

It also includes new functions to help you find and navigate to EV charging stations, including EV Routing and EV Range Map.

The 2027 Lexus TZ is 200.8″ long, 78.3″ wide, and 67.1″ tall, with a 120.1″ wheelbase, or about the same size as the Hyundai IONIQ 9 and the Volvo EX90.

Lexus said the electric SUV can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes at up to 150 kW. It also includes an NACS charge port so you can access Tesla Superchargers without a separate adapter.

The base 2027 Lexus TZ 450e Premium AWD will be available later this year, starting at $64,050 with up to 253 miles of range.

The Touring and Luxury models will go on sale in early 2027, starting at $72,050 and $80,550, respectively. Both use the larger 95.82 kWh battery, but the Touring model offers up to 315 miles of range, while the top-spec Luxury trim gets 279 miles.

Starting at about $65,000, the Lexus TZ costs more than the Hyundai IONIQ 9 ($60,555) but less than some luxury brands like the Volvo EX90 ($78,090).
