Kia is preparing to launch its second fully electric van following the PV5’s success. With its debut less than a month away, Kia offered a first look at the larger PV7.
When will the Kia PV7 make its debut?
The PV5 is already the best-selling small electric van in Europe, accounting for 37% of the market through the first half of the year.
In five countries, it accounts for more than 50% of C-segment EV van sales. Through August, Kia sold 39,000 PV5s globally. While Kia continues introducing new PV5 variants, it’s preparing to launch the second model from its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup.
We knew the PV7 would go on sale sometime in 2027, but Kia finally confirmed its official debut date.
Kia will unveil the electric van in full at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany, which runs from September 14 (press day) through September 20.
Ahead of its upcoming debut, Kia previewed the PV7 for the first time in a series of images and videos. While it’s still just a brief look, it’s pretty clear that the PV7 is noticeably longer than the PV5.
Kia has yet to announce specific details, but we do know the PV7 will be based on the same modular E-GMP.S platform as the PV5.
The PV7 concept from CES 2024 measured 5,270 mm in length, 2,065 mm in width, and 2,120 mm in height, with a 3,390 mm wheelbase. That’s considerably bigger than the PV5 Passenger, measuring 4,695 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,915 mm in height, with a 2,995 mm wheelbase.
The official teasers confirm previous prototype sightings. Leading up to its debut, the PV7 has been spotted several times testing in public.
A few weeks ago, it was captured on a car carrier in Korea. In the video from HealerTV (watch below), the PV7’s wheelbase is nearly the same size as the truck it’s sitting on.
Like the PV5, the PV7 is expected to feature Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system and fleet management software.
Kia said the PV7 will deliver “a new mobility experience that caters to diverse customer needs, ranging from professional work environments to daily travel and leisure activities, by offering a spacious and flexible space.”
The larger electric van will be available in several configurations. In the preview, you can see Passenger and Cargo variants, like the PV5.
We will learn more details at the event in September. The PV7 will make its debut, while Kia will reveal future PBV plans and showcase new PV5 derivatives.
After it went on sale at the end of 2025, the PV5 has exceeded even Kia’s own expectations. As of August, Kia has sold over 39,000 PV5 vans. Will the larger PV7 see the same success?
