BMW’s iX4 EV captured with a new look as its debut nears [Images]

The 2027 iX4 is set to join BMW’s electric vehicle lineup soon, bringing a new coupe SUV-like style to the family. Ahead of its debut, the 2027 BMW iX4 was spotted ripping around the Nürburgring, flaunting its new look.

BMW adds the iX4 to its 2027 EV lineup

BMW is overhauling its lineup with several new additions this year. In addition to the iX3 SUV and i3 sedan, the first of BMW’s Neue Klasse electric vehicles, the iX4 will arrive in the US as a 2027 model.

The new fully electric 2027 iX4 will replace the current X4. It will be available in two all-wheel-drive (AWD) trims: 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive, offering buyers different performance and range options.

Like the other Neue Klasse models, the iX4 will feature BMW’s latest batteries, drivetrain, design, and other technology.

Powered by its sixth-generation (Gen6) eDrive and a 108.7 kWh battery, the 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive offers a WLTP range of up to 500 miles (805 km). In the US, it uses an 112.2-kWh battery, providing an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles.

Ahead of its expected debut later this year, the 2027 BMW iX4 was captured testing at the Nürburgring in Germany.

As you can see in the new images from @Wilcoblok, the iX4 clearly features BMW’s updated Neue Klasse design. Although it’s covered, BMW’s new four-eyed kidney grille is shown up front and center. Thanks to its slanted roofline, the iX4 will offer a sleeker, more coupe-like alternative to the iX3.

Although we have yet to see the interior, you can expect to see a similar setup to the iX3 with a massive 17.9″ central touchscreen, new steering wheel, and BMW’s Panoramic Vision 3D Head-Up Display.

The new BMW iX3 has proven its real-world performance several times already. In November, BMW drove the iX3 over 1,000 km (621 miles) on a single charge. It also outlasted every other EV during NAF’s summer range test last month.

The iX3 50 xDrive is equipped with a dual-motor, AWD powertrain, delivering a combined 463 horsepower and 676 lb-ft of torque.

It’s also based on an 800V architecture with DC fast charging of up to 400 kW, enabling it to recharge from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes.

Since the iX4 will use the same underpinnings, you can expect it to be available with up to at least 400 miles of range as well. Under WLTP conditions, it will likely exceed 500 miles (805 km) in the longest-range model.

BMW will reveal prices closer to launch, but the iX4 will likely be slightly more expensive than the iX3.

The 2027 iX3 50 xDrive starts at $61,500 in the US and €73,925 ($85,200) in Europe. BMW also sells the iX3 40 in Europe, starting at €63,400 ($73,000), with a WLTP driving range of 628 km (390 miles).

With the iX4 arriving at dealerships as a 2027 model, it’s expected to make an official debut by the end of the year or early 2027. Check back soon for more. We’ll keep you updated with the latest.
