Chevy is dropping this popular Equinox EV option for the 2026 model year

The Chevy Equinox EV is “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV” for a reason, right? For the 2026 model year, buyers will have one less exterior color option to choose from.

The 2026 Chevy Equinox EV loses a color option

Starting at under $35,000, GM still calls the 2026 Chevy Equinox EV “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV.”

Even with the new 2027 Bolt EV and the 2026 Nissan LEAF, both starting under $30,000, the Equinox offers more driving range, up to 319 miles. In fact, GM is even offering a 20% discount on 2026 Chevy Equinox models this month, bringing the price down potentially to around $30,000 on some trims.

Well, GM has to cut costs somewhere, and it looks like, for the Equinox EV, that apparently means one fewer paint color option for buyers.

According to GM Authority, the Galaxy Gray Metallic exterior color is no longer available to order on 2026 Chevy Equinox models.

While it’s still listed online in some areas, the available models are from existing inventory. The report claims that the color will not be offered going forward.

GM doesn’t break down sales by paint color, but a quick search on social media reveals many thought the Galaxy Gray was one of the “coolest colors” and a “unique” option outside of the typical black, white, gray, and blue.

Will it return for the 2027 model year? It has yet to be confirmed, but usually when Chevy pulls a color mid model year, it’s gone for good.

The Galaxy Gray Metallic has been available as standard on the LT 1 and LT 2 trim options since the Chevy Equinox EV was first launched as a 2024 model.

Other paint options still available include: Summit White, Black, Riptide Blue, and Sterline Gray Metallic. The Radiant Red Tintcoat costs an extra $495. The RS trim is available in Habanero Orange, Black, Riptide Blue Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, while the Radiant Red Tintcoat and Polor White Tintcoat cost $495 more.

To sweeten the deal this month, Chevy is offering 20%, or up to $10,000 in discounts on the 2026 Equinox EV RS. The LT 1 and LT 2 trims are listed with a $6,500 and $8,000 customer cash discount, respectively.

Chevy has the lowerest-priced 2026 Equinox EV FWD LT with LT1 and the convenience package listed for lease at $259 a month for 39 months with $4,029 due at signing. You can also score 0% APR financing plus an extra $1,250 purchase allowance if you own or lease a 2012 model year or newer non-GM vehicle.
