What is this disguised new Kia EV spotted in the US: Could it be the EV3?

Kia is preparing to unleash a wave of new EVs on the US market. A camouflaged Kia vehicle was recently caught testing on US streets, hinting one could be closing in on its debut. The images reveal what appears to be a new disguised Kia EV. Could it finally be the EV3? It could also be a new EV9 variant. Check out the latest images below to see for yourself.

After setting a new November US sales record, Kia America’s VP of Sales, Eric Watson, says the company has “no plans of slowing down.”

After unveiling five new vehicles at the LA Auto Show, Kia is just getting started. Kia’s first three-row electric SUV, the EV9, is off to a hot start, with over 20,000 units sold through November. Even Kia’s first dedicated electric car, the EV6, set a new November record.

Kia introduced several new vehicles at the 2024 LA Auto Show last month, including the US-made 2025 EV6 and long-awaited EV9 GT.

The updated EV6 is an improvement in every way over the current model. It has more driving range, a fresh new style, and a tech-loaded interior. It even includes an NACS port so drivers can access Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Disguised EV hints at upcoming Kia EV3 debut in the US

Kia is also expected to launch a pair of more affordable entry-level EVs in the US. After opening orders for its smaller EV3 in Korea, starting at around $30,000 this summer, Kia recently introduced the compact EV in Europe.

The EV3 starts at around $38,000 (36,000 euros) in Europe with a “segment-leading” WLTP range of up to 375 miles. In the city, Kia said the EV3 gets up to 479 miles range.

Kia’s EV3 is expected to arrive in the US, but no official date has been confirmed. However, after a camouflaged Kia vehicle that appears to be the EV3 was spotted in Sarasota, Florida, it could be closer to its US debut than expected.

The images sent to Electrek reveal a disguised Kia model that appears to be an EV based on its design. Although slightly blurry, the rear lights closely resemble the vertically stacked design of the EV3. Its profile from behind is also nearly identical to the EV3.

Kia’s smaller electric SUV has already been caught testing in the US, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it is the EV3 under the camo.

However, the size of the vehicle is hard to judge. The disguised model could also be the larger 501 horsepower EV9 GT, which is expected to arrive in 2025.
