As part of its end-of-the-quarter sale and delivery push, Tesla is starting to sell and deliver vehicles out of Gigafactory 1, its battery factory in Nevada.

Tesla is currently in the middle of an important goal to deliver a record number of vehicles in the US during the last week of the year before the EV federal credit starts to phase out for Tesla buyers.

They have been deploying new efforts to facilitate sales and deliveries, like introducing a new 5-minute buying and delivery program.

The automaker’s latest initiative involves selling and delivering cars from Gigafactory 1, which has previously only been a manufacturing and engineering facility.

A Tesla spokesperson told the local news:

“We’ve opened this location to help make it easier for customers in the region to purchase and take delivery of their vehicles, and those who take delivery also have the unique opportunity to sign up for a factory tour. Sales consultations are by appointment only and can be scheduled here (hours are 9 a.m. -5 p.m., 7 days a week, excluding December 24 and 25).

While Tesla’s Gigafactory 1 is not located in a really popular commercial area, it is becoming the automaker’s first retail location in Northern Nevada.

The opportunity for a potential factory tour could also help encourage people to go pick up their cars there.

In order to deliver vehicles faster, Tesla has previously organized big delivery events as it changed its strategy by matching orders during its latest end-of-the-quarter delivery push.

As we reported earlier this week, a source familiar with Tesla’s sales in the US told Electrek that the company was still about 81% to its delivery goal for the quarter in the US.

It will require an important effort from Tesla’s sale and delivery teams in order for them to achieve the goal.

Today, Tesla said that it “released all their fleet vehicles – like those used for test drives – and vehicles where the original customer can’t take delivery by the end of the year.”
