Tesla is working on a ‘party & camper mode’ for your vehicle to power your outdoor fun

Tesla has already made available a ‘camper mode’ to let owners sleep in their cars while running things like climate control, but it now sounds like Tesla is going a step further to enable you to power all your outdoor fun.

Ever since the launch of the Model S back in 2012, some Tesla owners were willing to go camping with the luxury sedan as they figured out that a small mattress would fit in the back when the back seat is down.

It was a a fun experience, but you couldn’t let the climate control run for a long time when parked.

Some found workarounds, but it often results in lights staying on and other annoyances such as leaving your car unlocked.

Last year, Tesla released a software update with the ability to keep Climate Control running for an extended period of time while the vehicle is parked.

Now it sounds like they want to take it a step further with something called ‘party & camper mode’.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter today:

It sounds like Musk wants Tesla owners to be able to use their vehicles as an all-in-one device to power their outdoor parties or camping.

It could be particularly useful with a setup like a tent that you attach to your hatch like pictured above.

Musk make it sounds like Tesla owners could also take advantage of their vehicles’ media system and lighting under this mode.

It’s unclear exactly how it would work differently than when the car is simply parked.
