Tesla pushes new update to fix some UI issues ahead of v8.1

As promised by Elon Musk last week, Tesla started pushing a new update to Model S and X owners in the past few days in order to fix a few UI issues – primarily with the media player. The latest update is not addressing the most important UI complaints, but it is expected to be the first of a series of updates to be released in the coming weeks.

Here are the improvements mentioned in Tesla’s new release notes:

“There are multiple improvements to the USB listening experience: You can now use search to quickly find a song, artist, or album on your USB. Or use the alphabetical index to select music from long lists. Songs in the artist view are now grouped by album – particularly convenient with artists with multiple albums. Performance has also been improved, including faster scrolling of lists and faster USB loading when you return to your vehicle.”

This is basically a rollback of the USB media player functions that were removed when Tesla pushed v8.0. As I mentioned, it’s nothing major, but more small UI updates are expected leading up to the release of v8.1, which is planned for December.
