Ford Fusion Energi News
In 2018, Ford recalled 50,000 charging cables delivered with its electric vehicles due to fire risk.
Ford has announced a significant recall for the charging cables that it delivered with 50,000 of its electric vehicles sold between 2011 and 2015.
The automaker says that there’s an overheating risk that could lead to a fire.
It virtually affects all of Ford’s plug-in vehicles, Ford Focus Electric, Ford Fusion Energi, and Ford C-MAX Energi between the model year 2012 and 2015.
Ford is telling owners not to use the factory-equipped 120-volt cable anymore and they will be contacted by their local dealership to get a new cable with a thermistor, which “can identify over-temperature conditions at the plug/outlet interface and will discontinue charging until the temperature decreases to an appropriate level.”
In 2019, we learned that a new study shows that Tesla’s Model S is holding its value 2 times better than the average gasoline car and 3 times better than the average electric car despite the impact of EV incentives. This includes the Ford Fusion Energi that saw a depreciation of 57.7%.
Ford Fusion Energi Review
Electrek has not reviewed the Ford Fusion Energi, but we generally prefer 100% electric vehicles over plug-in hybrid models.
In a 2017 article, we learned that six out of the ten fastest-selling cars in the US were either electric cars or plug-in hybrid models.
A new study from iseecars.com shows that out of the 10 fastest-selling used cars on the market in the US today, 6 of them have plugs – 3 plug-in hybrids and 3 fully electric vehicles.
The top spot belongs to the fully electric Fiat 500e, followed by the BMW i3. The i3 is listed in the study as a plug-in hybrid, despite the base model being electric – we’re not sure if the two models were counted separately or just bundled together for the purposes of this study. Both the i3 and 500e have been popular on the used market in the last year, as many of the cars have been coming off 3-year leases, putting a bunch of lightly-used lease return electric cars on the market at attractive prices.
Also in the top 10 are the Prius Plug-in in 4th place, the Nissan LEAF in 6th place, and the Ford Fusion Energi and Tesla Model S rounding out the list in 9th and 10th.
