Electrek learned that Tesla’s Chief Information Officer Jay Vijayan quietly left the automaker during the last quarter to create a startup in stealth mode. Tesla Vice-President of Information Technology, Ganesh V. Iyer, is taking over Vijayan’s responsibilities as acting CIO and he will report directly to CEO Elon Musk, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Tesla had a relatively stable C-level executive team since Elon Musk took over as CEO in 2009, but it now adds up to two C-level changes in just a few months with Vijayan’s departure from the company and Tesla’s long-time CFO Deepak Ahuja announcing his retirement late last year. expand full story

As Tesla is planning for significantly higher volume products in the near future, the Model 3 and Tesla Energy products, the company is implementing a new custom end-to-end workflow system across the organization with a focus on “product platform, engineering and manufacturing efficiency, small teams and IT”, according to a presentation by Tesla Director of Engineering Applications Paul Lomangino obtained by Electrek.

India’s Prime Minister plans a visit at Tesla’s headquarters
According to the Times of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning a visit at Tesla’s headquarters during a tour in California next month. Tesla isn’t currently operating in India, but the visit might be a step toward changing that.
In the past, company executives have been on record saying that they plan on starting a dialogue with the Indian government to rationalise import duty on electric cars, which are ridiculously high in the country.
