United Rentals announced an agreement with Ford Pro to purchase hundreds of EVs to support its fleet sustainability goals for North America. The initial order is for 500 F-150 Lightning pickups and 30 E-Transit vans. The Ford EVs will begin deliveries to United Rentals later this year to be use by both the rental company and its customers.

A recent report states that global battery conglomerate CATL is in the final stages of vetting potential sites to bring EV battery production to the US. The move would mark the company’s first entry into the second largest automotive market in the world, and the new facilities would provide cells to BMW AG and Ford Motor Company for their EV production stateside.
Ford is letting its dealers know that they shouldn’t rush in to sell their F-150 Lightning demo units – even though the demand is high – or they will face some repercussions.

Furthermore, Ford announced new cloud software that more accurately estimates the F-150 Lightning’s range while towing in real-time. The more it’s used, the more precise it can become.
Ford has confirmed the price of its “Home Integration System,” which enables the F-150 Lightning electric pickup to power your home in case of an outage.
It will cost $3,895 before installation which is actually quite a good price…

Ford delays Android Automotive, confirms 2022 models, F-150 Lightning included, can’t be upgraded
One of Google’s biggest partners for Android Automotive in the US market is Ford, but the carmaker has just announced that its transition to its Android system is well behind schedule and will be delayed by a few months.
Ford has officially started full production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
The company compares the significance of the moment to the launch of the Ford Model T.

Following a shadowy teaser video earlier this month, Lincoln has officially unveiled a new all-electric SUV concept called the Star. During the global debut event in Los Angeles this evening, Lincoln shared its future electrification plans, explaining the Star Concept represents the brand’s vision for three Lincoln EVs arriving by 2025 and a fourth in 2026. A source close to the matter also let us know some of the new EV models Lincoln has planned.
Reading, Pennsylvania-headquartered Penske Truck Leasing has ordered 750 electric Ford E-Transit cargo vans and is taking delivery of the first of those EVs in the next several weeks. This follows Penske’s successful pilot of the EVs in late 2022.

American automaker Ford Motor Company, has outlined plans to expedite its push for EVs in Europe, promising nine all-electric models by 2024, seven of which are new to a lineup that already includes the Mustang Mach-E followed by the E-Transit next quarter. Vehicles from commercial unit Ford Pro, and the recently announced Ford e, combine to further expand Ford EV adoption in Europe.
Ford and VW announced that they are expanding their electrification partnership, and the former is going to release a second electric car based on VW’s MEB platform.

The interactive game functions through the Mach-E’s center touchscreen, using functions within the EV to guide the driver and its passenger(s) on a secret mission to deliver a package.

- I came to California to drive a Ford F-150 Lightning and I got two awesome days in Sonoma meeting Francis Ford Coppola, chatting with some great Ford engineers/execs, drinking some amazing wine, and driving an electric sprinter van (not in that order).
We learned a lot this week as Ford flew us out to Sonoma, CA, and took us to some winery businesses that would soon be using not only electric Ford Pro vehicles but would also be using its telematics software stack to manage everything about them.

It starts at $40,000 and it can be configured to a price up to $93,000 with all the options.
As Ford enters its final phase of pre-production on its highly anticipated F-150 Lightning pickup, it has announced another doubling of its production capacity on the new EV. The US automaker expects to scale Michigan production to 150,000 Lightning EVs by mid-2023, adding to massive overall BEV outputs.

Many Ford dealers are taking advantage of the strong demand for F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck and marking it up by as much as $30,000.
New York City is closing out the year with a big electrification move as it adds 184 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs to its fleet, and it approves the option to buy 250 Tesla Model 3 electric sedans.
Most of the vehicles are going to the NYPD and other emergency service departments.
