Hyperloop design competition: 65 miles from Dubai to Fujairah in 10 minutes

The United Arab Emirates, one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, will be hosting the “Build Earth Live” contest next month (September) which would specifically focus on the development of the Hyperloop system between Dubai and Fujairah.

From their website, “Build Earth Live” is a 48-hour design project, starting on September 26th, which is open to teams from around the world which will focus on developing a Hyperloop system that will travel from Dubai to Fujairah (approximately 105 km or 65 miles) in as little as 10 minutes. Further, the purpose of this competition is that it is meant to “show the power of of new paradigms for architecture, engineering, planning and construction.”

Via Futurism, Mohammed Al Gergawi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation, is quoted stating that Dubai is aiming to become…

a global platform for innovative minds to come together to create futuristic solutions on issues of relevance to humanity and that this contest is a great opportunity to explore innovative ideas in the smart transportation sector.

And while the intentions are clear that they are wanting to become a hub of innovation and great minds, Al Gergawi continues on and explains that the Hyperloop system, not only in Dubai, but across the world will “eventually lead to massive global economic growth.”

Implementing the use of these Hyperloop systems on land and underwater, will only continue to support the maturation of countries worldwide and it is exciting to see leaders from across the globe focusing on connecting and networking across borders.

Earlier this year, Hyperloop Tech (now Hyperloop One) co-founder and former CTO Brogan Bambrogan at the World Government Summit in Dubai to promote the hyperloop concept.
