What is Tesla’s new announcement – Poll

Elon Musk sent Tesla fans into a frenzy last night after he said that the automaker will have a rare announcement tomorrow. Tesla’s stock (TSLA) has been up 5% since Musk teased the announcement.

Here we poll your opinion about what it could be.

Electrek readers as a whole are generally pretty good at guessing Tesla announcements and new products.

I’ll try to provide as many different options as I can in order to get better results, but I think there are few clear main choices based on timing.

Tesla already said that Autopilot Hardware 3.0 and Supercharger V3 are due for early 2019.

It would make sense that those new products get announced soon.

Model Y was also originally due in March, but it doesn’t sound like Tesla has an actual event set up and a Model Y launch would definitely require that, but it could still be an announcement about the Model Y – like manufacturing plans.

Those are the main ones in my opinion, but there are plenty of other options.

What do you think?

A few words on the other possibilities.

It could be a Tesla Energy announcement. We recently reported on Tesla working on new solar panels and last year, we released details about Tesla’s unannounced new Megapack energy storage system.

Model 3 leasing? Last week, we reported that Tesla is preparing to offer Model 3 leasing to boost demand.

The document we reported on said it was going to launch this week, but Tesla insisted that the dates weren’t accurate.

Finally, a Model S and Model X powertrain upgrade is overdue in my opinion, but I feel like this would also come with an actual event.

That said, Tesla has made upgrades to those vehicles without an actual event before – including the front fascia refresh and some new battery pack releases.

It could also be something completely different, but the expectations are high based on TSLA stock price today.
