Tesla brings first Model 3 vehicles in China, we get a look at new Performance wheels

Tesla is starting to deliver the first official batch of Model 3 vehicles in China and it’s getting us a closer look at the new Performance wheels that are so far only available for the Chinese market.

There have been Model 3 vehicles in China for over a year now, but they were vehicles imported from the US by private companies and individuals.

Now, Tesla is officially starting to bring the official Chinese version into the country, according to a report from Tencent Motor News Site.

As we reported last year, Tesla unveiled a new 19″ Sports Performance wheel design for the Model 3 when opening the online design studio in China.

The Model 3 Performance vehicles spotted by Tencent appear to be equipped with these new wheels but with the aero cover off (pictures by Tencent – via @ShanghaiJayin):

Here are renders of what are believed to be the same wheels but with areo covers installed:

In other markets, the Model 3 comes standard with 18″ wheels with aero covers, but they are not the same design as these.

The 19″ and 20″ Sports wheels come with a more traditional design and there’s no option to have aero covers.

Electrek’s Take

I really don’t get why these are only available in China. It’s not like the Model 3 is produced in China already.

These vehicles were made in California and then shipped to China.

In my opinion, these new wheels look better than the US aero wheels both with and without the aero cover and I’d argue that they rival the standard Model 3 Sports wheels.

I vote ‘yes’. Tesla, please bring those wheels as an option in other markets.
