Tesla rushes to reveal earnings on Wednesday for expected ‘near profitable’ record quarter

Tesla rushes to deliver its Third Quarter 2018 Financial Results and Webcast on Wednesday, October 24 – a week early.

The early earnings come as Tesla is expected to deliver a record quarter and even come close to profitability, according to comments by Elon Musk.

Normally, Tesla’s third-quarter earnings are released during the first week of November, but Tesla announced last night that they would be releasing their results this week with only 2 days of notice.

They said in a release last night:

“Tesla will post its financial results for the third quarter of 2018 after market close on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.  At that time, Tesla will issue a brief advisory containing a link to the Q3 2018 Update Letter, which will be available on Tesla’s Investor Relations website.  Tesla will hold a live question and answer webcast that day at 3:30pm Pacific Time (6:30pm Eastern Time) to discuss the Company’s financial and business results and outlook.”

Tesla also said that they moved the call by one hour to 3:30pm Pacific Time (6:30pm Eastern Time) at the request of a number of analysts.

It should give them more time to go into the shareholder’s letter and results before the call and the opportunity to ask questions.

These unusually quick earnings come after Tesla already confirmed record production and deliveries numbers for the quarter.

In an email to employees at the end of the quarter, CEO Elon Musk said that the company was really close to profitable.

It’s unclear if Tesla is actually going to post a profit, which would be the first time since 2013, but some investors are taking this rush to release the results as a good sign.
