Tesla launches its mobile service in Australia, expanding presence ahead of Model 3

Tesla has been gradually preparing to launch the Model 3 in Australia.

After bringing the vehicle to the country for the first time last month, Tesla is now launching new initiatives ahead of the Model 3 making its way down under.

The automaker sent an email to local owners and potential buyers to announce that it is launching its ‘Tesla Mobile Service’ across several cities in Australia:

“Tesla Mobile Service is now available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Our technicians can now meet you at your home or office, and repair or maintain your vehicle when and where it is convenient for you. Combined with remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates, mobile servicing reduces your need to visit a Service Centre. In the rare case that your car requires a shop visit, service will be quick and seamless.”

Tesla has been expanding this service to increase its service volume. They have been modifying Model S vehicles to use as mobile repair vehicles.

They recently announced that it is bringing the service to Norway to fix their problem with long wait times in the market.

Now Tesla is bringing it to Australia, too.

Furthermore, the automaker also announced that it has a new Tesla Service and Delivery Centre in Alexandria, NSW (a suburb outside of Sydney) in preparation for the arrival of Model 3 in the country.

They wrote in the email:

“We are excited to announce the opening of a new Tesla Service and Delivery Centre in Alexandria, NSW.

The centre is part of our expansion in Australia ahead of the release of Model 3 in 2019 and serves to provide a convenient delivery and service experience for all Tesla owners across the Sydney region.”

A few months ago, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Model 3 international expansion has been pushed to early and mid 2019.

Considering Australia is a right-hand drive market, the Model 3 is expected to arrive towards the end of that timeline.

That said, Tesla already started marketing the vehicle in the country with display Model 3 vehicles in stores – something it hasn’t done in other markets where it isn’t delivering the Model 3 yet.
