The Mercedes-Benz EQC all-electric SUV is going to be the German automaker’s first all-electric vehicle built to be electric from the ground up.
It’s going to launch its new all-electric EQ sub-brand next year and in the meantime, it’s undergoing a thorough test program as we get a look at an EQC electric prototype making its tires squeal on the Nürburgring race track.
Mercedes-Benz previously said that the EQC is equipped with a 70 kWh battery pack for a range of ‘up to 500 kilometers’ (310 miles). At the time, it was based on the NEDC standard and the real-world range or EPA-rated range would be expected to be significantly less – around 250 miles. The range should be competitive with the several other all-electric luxury SUVs coming to market in the next few years.
As for power, Mercedes says that the EQC is equipped with two electric motors on the front and rear axles for a total power output of up to 300 kW. The automaker claims that it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in under five seconds.

It looks like Mercedes is pushing the vehicle a lot on the track during the industry pool day.
The automaker has been releasing a lot of details about its test program over the last few months.
Earlier this year, they showed a glimpse at the production prototype during winter testing and in May, they brought prototypes to the Black Forest in southwest Germany for more tests.
Last month, the German automaker put the vehicle through summer testing in Spain.
They have about 200 prototypes and pre-production EQC SUVs currently being tested ahead of the launch of the vehicle next year.
