iDevices and Hubbell introduce Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa based Wi-Fi EV charger at CES 2018

iDevices is launching several new products at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, including a new smart EV charger with its recently announced parent company Hubbell.

A Wi-Fi enabled EV charger will be one of the first products iDevices plans to create after being acquired by Hubbell, an electronics and controller manufacturer.

The new electric vehicle charger will let users control, monitor, and schedule the charge of their vehicle using a specialized iPhone app. While certainly not the first into this game, it does offer some smart features.

The compact and powerful EV Charger gives users the ability to remotely control, monitor and schedule the charge of their vehicle from anywhere with their mobile phone and the free iDevices Connected app. Users can track their vehicle’s charging status, get an instant alert if their vehicle is unexpectedly unplugged, and set custom charging schedules and time delays. The EV Charger was developed with Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems, a division of Hubbell Incorporated.

iDevices says that the charger will require no hub to operate, and is compatible with iOS and Android devices, as well as with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Both hardwired and plug-in models will be offered.

No price was yet offered but we’ll try to get our hands on one for review later this year when they hit the market.
